I grew up on job sites — tile, electrical, framing. I've worked residential and commercial construction, on crews and on my own, from houses to big-box grocery stores. I know how a building goes together because I've been part of putting them together.
Along the way I spent years as an ASE-certified diesel and automotive technician — work where the diagnosis has to be right the first time. The habit carried over: distrust the obvious answer, trace the symptom to its actual cause, and explain it clearly enough that anyone can act on it.
That's the same discipline a good home inspection demands. A stain on a ceiling isn't a finding — it's a symptom. The job is to find the source, judge whether it matters, and write it up clearly enough that a homeowner or a builder's warranty department can do something about it.
North Georgia — Hall, Jackson, Barrow, Forsyth, and Gwinnett — is one of the fastest-growing new-build markets in the state. New homes aren't defect-free; they're built fast, and the defects are predictable once you've seen enough of them. I work these same subdivisions every week, which means I know the builders and the problems that repeat. I've been on the crews that build these houses.
Inspections follow the InterNACHI Standards of Practice. Georgia is only now moving to license home inspectors — until that takes effect, the standard you get depends entirely on who shows up. I didn't wait for the state to require one: I hold the InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector (CPI) credential. What you get from me is a methodical, skeptical, systems-level walk — and a report written to be used, not filed.
